Sustainability
Our farming practices are at the center of everything we do at Gleann Daire Farm. We named the farm "Valley of the Oaks" in Irish. We have added 4 different species of Iowa native oaks to our collection of native plants and trees.
Our operation is managed without the use of pesticides. Our animals are on a rotational grazing schedule during the spring and summer months.
Local Food
With an increased demand for quality food and our proximity to Des Moines, we are excited at the opportunity to cater to our neighbors in our community, Des Moines, and surrounding counties.
We raise a French breed of geese called Toulouse Geese.

About Our Sheep:
- Our Romeldale/CVM sheep produce fabulous fleeces, sought after by hand spinners and crafters.
- This breed is the only truly American sheep breed developed in the United States around the turn of the 20th century.
- "Our Romeldale/CVM sheep are listed as threatened by The Livestock Conservancy."
- We are committed to preserving this wonderful breed of sheep.
Spring Lamb:
- In the spring, you can purchase whole or half lambs for pickup at a the Winterset locker. We'll deliver the lamb you purchase to the locker for your convenience. The locker will contact you when is ready for pick up.
